Abstract
All the Verbal subtests of the WISC-R were administered first, then all the Performance subtests, and in standard order to 56 educable mentally retarded children (31 males and 25 females; 43 Negroes and 13 Caucasians) ranging in age from 6 yr. 9 mo. to 16 yr. 8 mo. Verbal, Performance, and Full Scale IQs were slightly but significantly higher when subtests were administered in the standard order. Implications for previous contrasts of WISC and WISC-R performance and standardized administration procedures are discussed.
