Nursing personnel (50 females, 13 males) in a state mental hospital were rated by supervisors as to their degree of nurturant behavior on the job. There was a correlation of —.30 between these ratings and the nurses' Nurturance scores on the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule. It was suggested that the Edwards Nurturance scale does not reflect nurturant behavior unless the scale is reverse-scored.
