In two studies first grade children (66 girls, 45 boys; 52 girls and 52 boys) drew a picture both before and after they had heard a story about a child or children drawing particular objects. The results suggest evidence of imitation from the story content. Sex of the protagonist in the story had no effect on the subjects' responses. However, there was evidence suggesting that the sex-typing of the behavior of the protagonist in the story affected the children's responses.
