Under self-guided imagery 8 of 10 subjects and 10 of 12 subjects given systematic desensitization improved, 8 being able to lift the snake. Differences were nonsignificant for behavioral and self-report data for these small groups, but 3 subjects given self-guided imagery reached criterion in 4 sessions.
