The self-stimulating object-transferring of a profoundly retarded 27-yr.-old female was treated with overcorrection in an institutional setting. Treatment required the patient to hold her arms in one of three positions: hands above head, hands outstretched from the sides, and hands held to sides. An ABABA design was used and lower rates of self-stimulation were reported for overcorrection than baseline conditions.
