Three-dimensional, binary-valued stimuli were presented to 64 subjects within a modified selection paradigm to test the validity of the assumption of majority rule outlined by Levine (1970). Within this paradigm it was found that no subjects manifested a pattern of responding of majority rule, and it was concluded that a more parsimonious explanation of Levine's results might involve subjects attempting to test conjunctive hypotheses within his forced-choice reception paradigm.
