Abstract
Appropriate and inappropriate behavior of three autistically labeled boys was observed and recorded during alternating individual and group sessions under two conditions: Condition A, 1:1 reinforcement and shaping, and Condition B, differential reinforcement. Music served as an effective curriculum (to teach appropriate musical responses) and as a context to shape and alter other individual and social behaviors. Increases in appropriate behaviors were accompanied by variable decreases in inappropriate behaviors.
