Abstract
The perceived importance of sex and security, estimates of loving and liking, and the physical proximity for 32 couples married 0 to 15 yr. were analyzed. Results indicated that, as the duration of marriage increased, the importance of sex increased while security decreased and love scores decreased. The results were attributed to personality shifts for husbands or wives and/or the possibility that marriage may satisfy the security needs but not the love and sexual needs of these couples. Cross-validation is needed.
