Attitudes of 20 male and 5 female alcoholic patients toward treatment and treatment personnel were measured by the Semantic Differential at hospitalization and again at discharge. Attitudes toward nursing personnel tended to be less positive following hospitalization while attitudes toward self became more positive. The results are discussed in terms of treatment and its effectiveness.
