An examination of the effects of sex and ethnic variables on the test profiles of the ITPA and WISC in 42 mentally retarded subjects, 42 normal children, and 41 children with diagnosed learning or language problems (aged 6 to 10 yr.) indicated that while such effects may attain statistical significance, the amount of variance accounted for by such was small. Such a finding calls into question the practical significance of such effects.
