Abstract
The influence of instructions, delay of reproduction, and age of subjects, on the reproduction of 12 visually perceived forms, was investigated. A 2 (age: 17 to 19 vs 8 to 10) × 2 (instructions: “later on you will be asked to reproduce the figure in the most exact way” vs no mention of later reproduction) × 2 (delay: immediate reproduction vs reproduction 48 hr. later) factorial design was used. Significantly more approximation was evidenced by the university students than children (N = 120); instructions to remember interacted with age.
