It was hypothesized that schizophrenic Ss performed relatively better on a vocabulary task (Wechsler) demanding verbally expressed definitions than on a picture vocabulary measure (Quick Test). Results with 29 inpatient Ss supported this hypothesis. Implications of these results are discussed.
