Ss were paid for performing a simple knob-pulling task either after every pull (FR 1 schedule) or after every 200 pulls (FR 200). The frustrative delay in reinforcement experienced by Ss rewarded on the FR 200 schedule resulted in higher rates and magnitudes of punching responses to terminate an aversive tone.
