Abstract
Random samples of freshmen at a junior college and a university were administered 5 scales from the California Psychological Inventory in 1958–60, and to similarly obtained samples from the same institutions in 1970–71. The Ns were 75 males and 75 females each time at the junior college, and 100 males and 100 females each time at the university. Significant decade differences in mean scores by sex group were obtained for 12 of the 20 comparisons with 1970-71 groups having the lower means. The differences were generally toward a less psychologically mature direction.
