A field experiment tested the effects of repeated exposure to stimuli on liking for them. “Turkish words” were exposed to two classes on the blackboard without pre-explanation. At the end of a 9-wk. exposure period people rated the words on like-dislike scales. Liking increased with frequency of exposure but the over-all shape of the relationship was different from previous studies. Other factors such as boredom, hostility and self-exposure which may have contributed to the relationship are discussed.
