Relation of the Revised Beta Examination to other Ability Measures for a Group of Functionally Illiterate Adults

Abstract

57 prisoners determined to be functionally illiterate were given the Beta and the Stanford Achievement Test, rs were low (.12 for Spelling) to moderate (.45 for M of Paragraph and Word Meaning subtests). These reading measures of the SAT may be useful in planning for such a group.
