Response cost and reinforcement were systematically manipulated over a range of values in order to assess effects on performance on programmed materials. Performance was found not to be related in a direct manner to reinforcement magnitude. Citing several previous studies it is noted that Ss prefer to do accurate, rather than simply rapid, work.
