A cross-cultural study of 20 selected tribes in the Human Relations Area Files was undertaken to note the relationship between early dependence indulgence and the style of patient-healer interaction. It was found that early dependence indulgence was associated with person-oriented therapists while the absence of dependence indulgence produced the opposite result.
