This study investigated Berg's hypothesis concerning the unimportance of particular item content in the assessment of personality. 50 Ss of both sexes ranging in age from 18 to 40 yr. were administered the HTP and the MMPI in group sessions. A significant contingency correlation of .47 (p = .01) was obtained which supports Berg's Deviation Hypothesis.
