This paper reports progress on the development of a multiple-choice test designed to provide a profile of an individual's epistemological hierarchy. A description of the three scales (metaphoric, empirical, rational) comprising the test is provided. Data on “criterion group” approaches to validity determination and “test re-test” checks on reliability are reported.
