Abstract
From a group of 1400 patients who had been admitted to the neuropsychiatric wards cf a veteran's administration hospital over a 7-yr. period, four groups (only children, first born, middle born, and last born) of schizophrenics were randomly selected. Each patient had completed a valid Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), Edwards Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS), and the Maudsley Personality Inventory (MPI). A single-classification analysis of variance was computed for each of the 36 scales. Significant differences among the groups were found in 13 of the scales. The most striking finding was that the middle-born group was deviant on many of the scales. The reader is cautioned about interpreting the results of any specific scale.
