A visual intensity discrimination was added to basic auditory CSs in a differential eyelid conditioning experiment. Lowered response levels were observed to the compound CS−, suggesting increased differentiation when the CS-UCS interval of the single CS condition was maintained. Response levels to isolated elements of the compounds were related to CS-UCS and inter-CS intervals.
