Abstract
The proposal, earlier described by Gilbert (1965), that S will agree with a congenial personality item faster than he will disagree with its reversal of equal reading length (polar format) was found to apply also to the “involved-neutral” format, in which S‘s reaction times for neutral stimulus propositions are compared with his reaction times for ego-involved personality items.
