Abstract
The present study attempted to cross-validate the Aaronson Mf Index, which is based upon four of the MMPI clinical scales, with a college population and, further, to test the fakabiliry of this index under instructions to take the MMPI as a member of the opposite sex. In two samples of college students taking the MMPI under standard instructions, the Mf Index failed to discriminate biological males from females, although the traditional Mf scale did. While the Mf scale was highly fakable under the dissimulation instructions and the Mf Index was not, the failure of the latter to differentiate the sexes raises a serious question about its usefulness with college students.
