Three different kinds of resistance are described: (1) classical psychoanalytic; (2) avoidance motivated by a fear of exterior control; and (3) fear of disapproval, ridicule, and reproach. A case history is presented in which all of these resistances are apparent. The use of group therapy in dealing with these resistances is described.
