Abstract
Two equivalent scales were developed to measure authoritarianism by adding to the original F Scale items additional items gathered from various sources. Form F-L and Form F-M were administered to 128 introductory psychology students. The original F Scale items correlated .93 with the new items. Forms F-L and F-M correlated .89. The results indicate that Forms F-L and F-M can be used interchangeably and measure the same attributes as the F Scale. The development of equivalent scales permits a more accurate assessment of attitude change.
