DiMascio, et al. have demonstrated that drugs produce differential effects in two personality types. The effects of three drugs (chlorpromazine, trifluoperazine, and secobarbital) on learning (nonsense syllables) were examined in individuals pre-selected according to the criteria set forth by DiMascio, et al. Drugs improved learning in one personality type only. The importance of drug-personality interaction in psychopharmacologic studies is stressed.
