The Altus, a short intelligence test for screening purposes, was cross-validated on a randomly selected clinical population from a State Hospital, with WAIS scores serving as the criterion. The Altus was found to be about as valid with the present population as with the servicemen in the original validation 15 years ago. The standard errors of estimate for predicting the WAIS Full Scale raw scores and the WAIS IQ were given. The Altus seemed particularly useful where a very short, reasonably valid test for group or individual administration is needed and fine discrimination is not required.
