This paper constitutes a reply to Jessor's comments on a study by Lipetz and Milton. Additional considerations are presented in order to allow a fuller evaluation of Jessor's comments. The main conclusion is that an effort toward a systematic investigation of variables which would allow for better prediction of behaviors characterized as dependent will be necessary.
