Abstract
Some of America's best-known band directors will appear at MENC's 1992 National Biennial In-Service Conference in New Orleans. Frank Battisti, Frederick Fennell, Donald Hunsberger, Francis McBeth, and John Paynter will work with selected bands, demonstrating techniques they've learned through years of experience. This article presents part of a conversation among two conductors and a composer—Battisti, Fennell, and Warren Benson—who were instrumental in the birth of the American band curriculum reform movement. Their discussion took place at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, December 1990.
