Abstract
THE American Council of Learned Societies convened a conference of college and university teachers and teachers of music in the secondary schools in the summer of 1958 to consider secondary school curriculum problems in the fields of English, foreign languages, social studies, art and music. Following is the report of the Music Panel which appeared in the November 1958 Newsletter of the ACLS. All will agree that the statement demands thoughtful reading by every music educator and all who are concerned with music and its part in the program of education.
