Abstract
Oneof the events associated with the dedication of the NEA building was the sealing of atime capsule to beopened January 1, 1999. State governors contributed prophecies about education forty years hence. This activity prompted the extraction of the following about the music educator of the future from the manuscript of a speech made at a meeting of the North Carolina Music Educators Association by Clifford W. Brown, a former president of the West Virginia Music Educators Association, head of the music education department of the School of Music, West Virginia University, Morgan town.
