Abstract

AFTER spending three years at Tulare, California, Mr. LeRette has become director of the Tartar Band at Compton College, Compton, California. He writes: “For several years, I have given my instrumental classes preliminary instruction in harmony, note reading, ‘ear training, and keyboard work. All of this has preceded the assignment of instruments to each individual beginner. It has been proved a tremendous time-saver … is part of the answer to turning out musically-intelligent beginners.”
