Wundt is credited with having established the first true psychological laboratory (at the University of Leipzig) around 1879. He is sometimes called the “father of experimental psychology” (c.f. M. Wertheimer, A Brief History of Psychology [New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1970]).
