Abstract
The biological side of psychology is an integral part of the field. However, high school courses generally touch on these areas only lightly and beginning students may have no initial interest in these areas nor see their relevance for the study of psychology. An interactive exercise is described that allows the introduction of the biological components of psychology in an interesting manner that clearly ties them to the survival of the organism. This exercise provides lead-ins for several later sections of the introductory course, including the structure of the brain and is evaluated positively by students.
