This paper is an attempt to work through my own angst at a negative review of my Education, Philosophy and Politics, reviewed recently by Ian Stronach for the British Educational Research Journal, and to provide a therapeutic reading of the ethics of negative reviews. What of ‘shots in the dark’ and should there be a right of reply?
