In a self-paced course with large numbers of students (over 300) and with ten to twelve proctors or testers, at least two problems associated with record keeping become apparent. The problems are that of having the records both up-to-date and accurate and having records available to all those involved in administering the course.
An automated record keeping system has been in use for three years at York University. This software provides a generalized practical (and portable) solution to the problems of record keeping in large self-paced courses.
