Abstract
Recently, there has been a proliferation of community based drug programs in response to the increasing use and abuse of drugs. This article describes one unique approach to providing a wide range of helping services for individuals in the community with drug related problems. The methods used are a blend of traditional and innovative styles. The development of the organization, services offered, and community outreach programs are discussed, as well as the training, supervision, and consultation provided by trained professionals to laymen which enables the agency to function as a facilitative, comprehensive drug education and therapeutic intervention center. Implications of this type of work are discussed.
