Abstract
One of the most innovative and ambitious attempts to describe the human personality in ways that are both quantifiable and empirically testable is the theoretical approach of Raymond B. Cattell. Expert witnesses who offer testimony based on the Cattell tests (e.g., 16PF, CAQ, 8SQ, HSPQ, CPQ, MAT, SMAT) face special challenges and pitfalls during direct and cross-examination. This article provides sample deposition and cross-examination questions that expert witnesses may use to assess their own knowledge of the theory and tests and to prepare to offer testimony about assessments based on Cattell's tests.
