Though little hard data is available, the evidence for a changing drug scene in the United States generally and suburbia in particular is presented. The discernible trend in youthful, middle-class drug abuse is a shift to alcohol, religious or other drug-free fads. The hard-core (heroin) problem will probably increase in correlation with absolute or relative impoverishment.
