Abstract
Universities and colleges are using the Internet as a major tool for providing information to prospective students about their programs and services. However, as more and more Web pages are designed using popular multimedia elements such as animation, graphics, and video, many may not be accessible to those using screen readers and other disability-related accessibility technology. With current legislation designed to protect the rights of persons with disabilities, especially the right to access postsecondary educational opportunities, providing equal access to all students has become a major issue. This research evaluates the main Web pages of AACSB-accredited colleges and universities for compliance with the two key laws pertaining to disability-access in these institutions: the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
