Abstract
A general discussion of measurement models for use in performance testing is presented. Included are comments on the use of norm, criterion, objective, and domain-referenced measurement. Additionally, several appropriate components of behavioral objectives including performances, conditions, and standards are discussed; as are various item formats and levels of fidelity in performance testing. Objectivity of measurement, product versus process scoring, and assistance versus no assistance scoring in performance testing contexts are considered; as are various reliability and validity estimation techniques including content, concurrent and predictive validity.
