Abstract
The turn into the 1960's has been remarkable for the emergence of many liberation movements including consciousness raising regarding sensibilities toward death. Despite the proliferation of death studies, systematic-cognitive research has hardly advanced beyond pre-1960 work. This review concentrates on the report of observations of pre-adult years, including dying children and parent absence and loss. Most studies do not clearly distinguish eternal death and the question of an after life, from the question of immortality or the longing to be remembered. Images of world building are different from images of nature and the cycle of life.
