Abstract
On November 8, 2010 the Environment Section of the American Public Health Association recognized the work on the precautionary principle that Carolyn Raffensperger and her organization, the Science and Environmental Health Network, had done over the past 12 years by honoring her with the Homer N. Calver Award Lecture. The award gave her an opportunity to reflect on the past and consider the future of environmental health ideas. The following is the basis for that speech.
