A detailed and up-to-date review of the Patient Protection and Affordability Act, H.R. 3509, signed into law by President Obama in March 2010 and its implications for the American consumer and the health care industry as well as related academic health science institutions. Given the long history of efforts to achieve significant health reform in the United States, the new law represents a major accomplishment.
