The late Dr. George Wiley led major registration drives that effectively implemented laws and entitlements on behalf of welfare recipients. It would be fitting to honor this uncommon leader by creation of an Operation SSI Alert to register the old, disabled, and blind for assured income benefits effective January 1, 1974. The government and the organizations for the elderly have dragged their feet too long.
