Abstract
The intent of this paper is to present a brief overview of the type of information that might be included in the applied learning technologist certificate program. The narrative is philosophical in nature and is designed to elicit comments or suggestions from a broad spectrum of people in the education and training field. As a result, some terms or concepts may appear to be unnecessarily belabored where terminology may vary from one sector to another. Again, in keeping with the goals of the society (SALT), a realistic concensus of what an applied learning technologist should know and how he should best acquire it is earnestly sought. Thus, it is requested that comments, suggestions, cautions, expressions of interest in such a program, etc. be sent to the society or to the author.
