This letter from members of the People's Health Movement to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan expresses concern about the appointment of Ann Veneman as the new Executive Director of UNICEF, based on her past performance on issues affecting children's health, and criticizes the processes used in making this and similar U.N. appointments, which reward powerful countries with the ability to make political appointments to important posts.
