The Lincoln Terminal System is being developed to support individual self-instruction outside of, as well as in a conventional classroom setting. It uses microfiche to deliver instructional material and a small computer to control interaction with the student. It has proven possible to include an audio channel on the fiche and a completely stand-alone system appears technically and economically feasible. This paper presents the current status of this development program.
