Abstract
In an effort to obtain national information on current college level drug programs, forty-six counseling centers on large (10,000+) campuses were surveyed. Results indicated that 85 per cent of the centers did not have established programs which responded to specific drug concerns. Other available resources included academic and community-based programs. There was a suggestion of the following trends: 1) to minimize the distinction between “drug concerns” and other counseling concerns, 2) to secure academic credit for drug related university programs, 3) to re-endorse community-based operations administered by student peers, and 4) to focus on alcohol education programs on college campuses.
